I personaly experience dengue fever at the end of May 2017, I had high fever for almost 5 days. I could not eat anything, had stomach burn. The worst was the total lack of energy, I was so exhausted I stayed on the couch for 2 weeks before I could stand for more than 10mn on my feet. After that my immune system took a good 6 months period to recover and during this time I got 2 brionchitis which led to take antibiotics. Before that, I was free from antibiotics for the last 2 years.
How to get rid of Mosquitoes ?
There is no miracle; only your commitment will protect your home.
You have to track every water sources in your backyard ; on a weekly basis.
The Aedes aegypti, only need a cap full of water to breed.
The life cycle of Aedes aegypti can be completed within one-and-a-half to three weeks.
One mosquito can lay up to 400 eggs at a time, yep scary !
Eliminate every sources of water
So you will have to check your backyard every week to get rid of any remaining water.
Make sure you tip, drain and cover sources of standing water like gardening pot, old wheel, gutter, fountain, bird waterer, etc.
In your decorative pounds, add some mosquito fish. Regularly check water features for larvae and you may need to use larvicides to kill those nasty larvaes.
Maintaining a manicured, tidy lawn is essential for mosquito prevention. Overgrown grass and hedges provide shelter in the cool vegetation on a hot summer day.
Swimming Pool
One of the best ways to keep mosquitoes away from your pool is by keeping it well-maintained. During the summer months, run a pool pump every few hours to create water circulation. Be sure to chlorinate your swimming pool and maintain disinfection levels, as this will help kill mosquito larvae. Studies have shown that mosquitoes prefer to lay eggs in water with leaves in it, so be sure to promptly skim leaves from the surface of your pool.
After a power failure, make sure your chlorine input is back on normal settings; if you do not want your place to be infested with mosquitoes.
If you do have a pool cover make sure it is always dry and clean it after each rain.
