Have baked a Spinach, Chicken Herb Pasta, Corn Bread, and steamed Asperagus. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked to perfection. It's exciting to get more creative. I can't think of anything I wouldn't use to cook using my new GoSun Grill.
The first use I thought was going to be a fail. It was pretty overcast and taking an hour to warm up. But then the clouds broke and it preheated in about 15 min. I was expecting an all day affair but once it was hot the clouds didn't really affect the heat. We made three batches of yummy bread rolls and cooked up some sausages.
Bring inside and the temperature stays above 120F for many hours allowing the yogurt to "cook". The day before was potatoes ham. The vacuum tube technology is great!
I think this new Gosun grill is much better than the previous sport version.
This version is much larger and has several important improvements including a built in thermometer and a sun orientation indicator. It also comes with a solid feeling drawer with two separate cooking pans.
This version is proving to be truly usable.
In the past week since I got it I have made split pea soup from scratch, gingerbread cupcakes, eggs and bacon, BBQ baby back pork ribs, and hot tea.
All but the bacon and tea cooked in identical times to the regular recipes. The split pea soup took 4 hours from dry peas to finish into a creamy soup: this is the same as the recipe said including soak time.
The gingerbread cupcakes were done in 1 hour, as the recipe said.
I cooked the pork ribs 'low and slow' for 5 hours, as called for in the recipe, and they turned out perfectly with the meat falling from the bone.
So for those 3 recipes the Gosun was perfect. The outstanding thing is the ability to cook proper BBQ style ribs low and slow style with no charcoal or gas or running an oven for 5 hours.
Yesterday, with the sun at about the lowest it can get on the horizon and the snow about 2' deep and the ambient temperature at about 9F (-13C) I baked bread. Pre-heat in about an hour and then bake in about an hour. Bring inside and the temperature stays above 120F for many hours allowing the yogurt to "cook". The day before was potatoes ham. The vacuum tube technology is great!
I was apprehensive when setting it up. It was slightly overcast, later in the evening, and was particularly chilly.
I set up the GOSUN GRILL and waited for it to preheat, all the while doubting this device would perform.
This grill blew away my expectations and will be replacing my BBQ as I do a 6 month discovery road trip with my son. Awesome product- buy one, you won't regret it!
